After we finished looking at stupid vehicles for my dad, I promised him I'd focus more on the practical stuff. This week we're going to look at another XC70 T6, which is the top contender, and Ecoboost Flex, which is the close runner-up, and a CTS Wagon, which is a newcomer to the search. I told him I wouldn't ask him to look at anything else stupid. Unfortunately, our local Carmax got an !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! in stock recently. An M5 for just $37,000. With a manual. Some promises are just too hard to keep.

I think basically, when I tell my dad about cars like this in town, he says, "You know full well I can't/won't buy some stupid high performance car until you guys are off to college"...as he picks up the phone to call the dealer for an appointment.

What do you think about a CTS4 Wagon? Practical, decent fuel economy and all the practicality. The Flex Ecoboost sounds like a really good idea to me as well, I really like the Flex a lot.

You're not horrible. The most important thing to do is to make sure he gets a car that he's interested in as well.

Not really that bad gas mileage. Driving it nicely might even get higher numbers than that.

I'm the same. We buy a new car at least once a year, recently it's been more like two. My father bought an E63 AMG 4Matic Wagon in Janurary and a 9114S Cabrio in February, then the new Targa came out so I pushed for that and voila, the Targa 4S is in the garage right now. Albeit different price, but still same tendencies.

I'm pushing for a Cayenne Turbo to dump the Cayenne S we have.... oh god.

18/26 isn't low enough to stop us looking at it, but higher is a good thing.

I know that feel. We usually gets a new car once every 18 months or so. This Flex has been in the family for close to five years, which makes it a) an heirloom. and b)well overdue for replacement, since we bought it new and it now has 130k miles on it.

Our current Flex has been a great car, but it's overdue for replacement. Since my dad's only real complaints with our FWD V6 model were lack of grip and lack of power, we naturally are looking at the Ecoboost version as a followup.

It helps that I am like easily influenced, so I'm like a mish mash of everyone around me. So while I do love an E63 Wagon and its unreliability in the future when I can afford it myself, I've been fangirling about Siennas and Venzas ever since my dad said he was considering replacing a car.

Ecoboost and AWD should fix both of those complaints. There's really no other people hauler like it, even if you fool yourself into believing it's not just a sexy minivan.
